Why Direct Mail Still Matters

Marketing pundits have been predicting the death of direct mail for more than two decades. But to paraphrase Mark Twain, the reports of its death have been a gross exaggeration. Direct mail hasn’t died, and in fact, it’s experiencing a renaissance.

On November 14, 2019 at 1 pm EST, we’ll be hosting a webinar that will explore why direct mail is still a powerful marketing channel and how new tools and techniques are making direct mail even more effective.

Sandy Kane, CEO at RSN
Sandy Kane is Michael Phelps, Homer, Warren Buffett, Casey Kasem, and Abraham Lincoln wrapped up into one fully functional package. Sandy is a great listener who tells the truth. Here are only a few of Sandy’s contributions:

He ran IBM’s worldwide semiconductor operations.
He was one of the founders of SEMATECH and served as executive director.

He is the president of Kane Concepts Incorporated, a management-consulting firm.
His greatest contribution, however, is his devotion to his family. He loves his wife, three children, and grandchildren more than anything.
As for Michael Phelps, Sandy was a swimmer in high school; as for Homer, Sandy is a storyteller; as for Warren Buffett, Sandy is a successful CEO; as for Casey Kasem, Sandy has a wonderfully melodic radio voice; and, finally, as for Abe Lincoln, Sandy is an avid reader.

Gary Reblin, VP New Products & Innovation at USPS
Gary Reblin was named vice president of Product Innovation in October 2016. In this role, he is responsible for product development for all mail and shipping products as well as innovation as USPS integrates with emerging technologies. Reblin reports to the chief customer and marketing officer and executive vice president.

Prior to this position, Reblin was vice president of New Products and Innovation from December 2012 until October 2016. Before that, he was vice president Domestic Products from January 2011, until December 2012. He was vice president of Shipping Services from May 2010, until January 2011. He was also vice president of Expedited Shipping from March 2008, until May 2010, where he oversaw Express Mail and Priority Mail products and services and was responsible for developing programs to maximize their profitability and value.

A 23-year postal veteran, Reblin has led many successful product and service innovations, including developing most of the popular Flat Rate and Regional Rate Products and Every Door Direct Mail. He was previously the manager of Intelligent Mail Planning and Standards, where he led the Postal Service's efforts to upgrade its technical infrastructure and develop the Intelligent Mail barcode, which has enabled the Postal Service to identify and track every piece of U.S. Mail.

He has also served in other key management positions in Engineering, where he helped set the strategic direction for letter and flat automation programs.

Reblin holds a degree in industrial engineering and operations research from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Master of Business Administration from Strayer University.
