Jon Treen, Senior VP, Mining at Stantec
Jon Treen's well-rounded career has included a wide variety of positions within the mining industry, including safety, engineering, operations, site services, and consulting. Currently serving as senior vice president for the mining business line at Stantec, Jon oversees a technical staff of over 700 individuals across 5 countries focused on the mining industry. Previous to Stantec, he held leadership roles such as general manager of operations for one of the largest integrated underground mining operations in Canada, general manager of production services, manager of technical services, and mine manager. His previous experience includes direct responsibility for up to six mines and production of 220 million lb of nickel and 312 million lb of copper, along with associated precious metals. With a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, and significant leadership training, Jon Treen understands how to successfully and effectively manage teams of experts to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
Dave Richardson, Engineering Manager - Innovation Leader at Stantec
As an engineering manager for the mining practice area at Stantec, Dave is experienced in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of processes and standards. As innovation leader within Stantec’s Global Mining team, Dave provides guidance and support in identifying, evaluating and deploying innovative approaches and technology for Stantec’s mining clients, while tapping into internal innovation programs to foster a ‘start-up’ mentality within the team. With a strong background in electrical engineering, Dave also provides electrical assistance in areas including industrial electrical and power systems design and installation, automation and control, and mine project feasibility studies among the others. He has led numerous teams in the planning and execution of infrastructure engineering for mining projects in conjunction with the owner’s procurement, contracts, and commissioning teams.
