It is an idea that is fast gaining traction in many cities of the world and some major feasibility studies are taking place in European Cities. We will be running this webinar in collaboration with the New Europeans as part of a series of events on Basic Income in Europe.
Basic Income UK will also be joining us in this venture and will be presenting this webinar. You can find out more about Basic Income UK at http://basicincome.org.uk/
Leading our Discussion will be:
Barb Jacobson, Coordinator of Basic Income UK and a member of UBI-Europe. Basic Income UK is a collective of independent people promoting unconditional basic income as a progressive social policy for the United Kingdom, and beyond Becca Kirkpatrick is the Co Organiser of the Basic Income Meetup Group and also a member of Positive Money and GlobalNet21.
A basic income is an income unconditionally granted to all on an individual basis, without means test or work requirement. It is a form of minimum income guarantee that differs from those that now exist in various European countries in three important ways:
- it is being paid to individuals rather than households;
- it is paid irrespective of any income from other sources;
- it is paid without requiring the performance of any work or the willingness to accept a job if offered.
In this webinar we will discuss what a Basic Income Is and could it work.
