Richard Williams
Dr. Williams gained his Ph.D. as an environmental scientist at Southampton University in the 1980s and was appointed a Senior Research Fellow in the Energy and Climate Change Division in October 2013. Richard was a councillor on Southampton City Council for 17 years including being its Leader. He led the drive to obtain the Queens Award for Sustainability for the Southampton Geothermal Power Station and formed, then chaired, the Sustainability Forum of the Association for Public Service Excellence. Since the 1990’s Richard has been an EU technical evaluator and rapportuer, currently linked to the Future Emerging Technologies (FET) initiative. Late last year (2015) he was invited by the new Shadow Energy and Climate Change team in Westminster to become their special advisor on EU Energy and Climate Change Policies and initiatives. His research here focuses on energy policies at local, national and international level. Over the past 25 years Richard has had almost 30 articles published, the most recent being a pamphlet on UK retail energy policies in February 2015.

When not piloting a sailboat, Ossi Porri pilots pioneering energy projects at Helsinki Energy in Finland. He is an energy economics engineer with over 20 years of experience in finding the most creative and sustainable solutions. Energy efficiency and smart grids are his key areas of expertise.
